=====Leica R Elmarit 24mm f/2.8 ===== {{ :lens:24mmf2.8elmarit-r.jpg?direct&400|}} ==== Summary ==== The LeicaElmarit-R24mmf/ 2.8 is a superb wide-angle fast lens for SRL Leica R cameras. Unfortunately, the production is discontinued. Its construction has 9 elements in 7 groups, one of them is floating. When wide open, contrast is above the average. Resolution of the frame center is superb, but it is slightly soft on the edges (all contrastive areas are sharp). When stopping down to 5.6, contrast and resolution are considerably higher. From f/11 onwards there is a drop in contrast and resolution because of diffraction. There is some vignetting when wide open, which disappears completely from f/5.6. The Leica Elmarit-R 24 24 mm f/ 2.8 has an old-established history. When they cooperated with Minolta, Leica adapted the lens for the Minolta frame. Lenses were manufactured by Minolta and other companies, whereas frames were produced by Leitz. Later on Minolta discontinued the production of the lens, and Leitz had lens for to adapt the optical scheme of the lens for for other manufacturers of lenses. The Lens Leica Elmarit-R 24 mm f/ 2.8 has a diagonal angle of view of 74 °, which greatly decreases geometrical distortion of the other Leica lens -Leica Elmarit-R 19 mm f/ 2.8, even with a tilted camera. Nevertheless, there is distortion which produces additional capabilities for interesting artistic photography. By means of adapters it can be easily used on modern SLR and mirrorless cameras. TheLeica Elmarit-R 24 mm f/2.8 is fit for landscape, architecture, interior, genre and candid photography (the latter is recommended for hyperfocal range).
