The SMC Pentax-A 28mm f/2 is a fast, manual-focus wide-angle prime introduced in 1984 and produced until 1988, designed for full-frame K-mount film cameras and fully compatible with modern Pentax DSLRs. It was the fastest 28mm lens in the A-series lineup and is often associated with the legendary Zeiss Distagon 28mm f/2 “Hollywood”, sharing a similar optical formula and cult status among vintage lens enthusiasts. Optically, it features an 8-element/7-group design, Super Multi-Coating (SMC), and a 6-blade automatic diaphragm. It offers a 75° diagonal field of view on full-frame (or ~55° on APS-C), focuses down to 30cm, and delivers 0.13× magnification.
