===== Pentax-A SMC 35mm f/2 ===== {{ :lens:pentax-a_smc_35mm_f2.png?300|}} ==== Summary ==== The SMC Pentax-A 35mm f/2 is a fast, manual-focus wide-angle prime introduced in 1984 and produced until 1989, designed for full-frame K-mount film cameras. It was the final evolution of Pentax’s manual-focus 35mm f/2 lineage, succeeding the K and M versions, and added the all-important “A” setting on the aperture ring—enabling full Program and Shutter-Priority automation on compatible bodies. Optically, it features a 7-element - 7-group design with Super Multi-Coating (SMC) and a 6-blade automatic diaphragm. The lens stops down to f/22, focuses as close as 30cm, and delivers 0.17× magnification. It uses a 49mm filter thread, weighs 205g, and measures 63 × 41.5mm. It lacks internal focusing or weather sealing, but includes a PH-S49 hood and was often sold with a hard case (HA-90B). The build is classic A-series: compact, dense, and all-metal with a rubberized focus ring and engraved distance scale. ==== Tech Specs ==== | Manufacturer |Pentax| | Series |A Series Prime| | Model |SMC| | Focal Length |35mm| | Max Aperture |f/2| | Min Aperture |f/22| | Format |Full-Frame| | Image Circle |-| | Minimum Focus |30cm| | Focus Rotation |°| | Iris Blades |6| | Optical Design |7/7| | Squeeze |none| | Front Diameter |63mm| | Filter Thread |49mm| | Focus/Zoom Rod |none| | Native Mount |Pentax K| | Data Protocol |none| | Length |41.5mm| | Weight |205g| | Body Telescope |-| | Body Material |-| | Focus Drive |-| | Iris Drive |-| | Zoom Drive |-| ==== History ==== Country of Origin: \\ Release Date: 1984 \\ Launch Price: \\ Design Revisions: \\ ==== Service ==== Service Manual: (Insert link to manual here) \\ \\ Full CLA: **TBD hrs.**\\ \\ ==== Cine-Mod ==== Focus Ring O.D.: -\\ Zoom Ring O.D.: -\\ Iris Ring O.D.: -\\ De-click Y/N: -\\ Additional Notes: \\ ==== Notes ==== ==== Media ====
