===== Pentax Super-Multi-Coated Takumar 28mm f/3.5 ===== (INSERT SINGLE HERO IMAGE HERE - other images below in media section) ==== Summary ==== The Super-Takumar and Super-Multi-Coated (S-M-C) Takumar 28mm f/3.5 are compact wide-angle M42 screw-mount lenses produced by Asahi Optical Co. from 1962 to 1975. Designed for 35mm film SLRs, they feature a 7-element optical formula (6 or 7 groups depending on version), a 5-blade automatic diaphragm, and a minimum focus distance of 0.4m—ideal for landscapes, street photography, and architecture. Early Super-Takumar versions (1962–1966) have a 58mm filter thread and stop down to f/22 or f/16, while later versions (1966–1975) use a 49mm thread and a revised optical design. The final S-M-C Takumar variant adds improved multi-coating for better flare resistance and color fidelity. All versions are manual focus, built in solid metal barrels, and weigh between 208–260g. They offer a 75° diagonal field of view on full-frame and are engraved with names like Super-Takumar 1:3.5/28 or Super-Multi-Coated TAKUMAR 1:3.5/28. Though not fast, the lens is praised for its sharpness, contrast, and vintage rendering—especially when stopped down to f/8. A popular choice for adapting to digital mirrorless systems. The Super-Takumar came in two models over time with different optics. The first model has a 58mm filter size with the optical design shown in the leftmost diagram whereas the second model has a 49mm filter size and the optical design shown in the rightmost diagram. Also, the first model features a slightly differently designed distance scale than the second model. The final release of this lens was a Super-Multi-Coated model with improved coating but otherwise with the same optics as the second Super-Takumar model. ==== Tech Specs ==== | Manufacturer |Pentax| | Series |M42 Series| | Model |Super-Multi-Coated Takumar| | Focal Length |28mm| | Max Aperture |f/3.5| | Min Aperture |f/16| | Format |Full-Frame| | Image Circle |⌀| | Minimum Focus |40cm| | Focus Rotation |°| | Iris Blades |5| | Optical Design |7/7| | Squeeze |none| | Front Diameter |58mm| | Filter Thread |49mm| | Focus/Zoom Rod |none| | Native Mount |M42| | Data Protocol |none| | Length |41.5mm| | Weight |212g| | Body Telescope |-| | Body Material |-| | Focus Drive |-| | Iris Drive |-| | Zoom Drive |-| ==== History ==== Country of Origin: - \\ Release Date: 1971 \\ Launch Price: - \\ Design Revisions:\\ ==== Service ==== Service Manual: (Insert link to manual here) \\ \\ Full CLA: **#hrs.**\\ Enter relevant notes here\\ ==== Cine-Mod ==== Focus Ring O.D.: -\\ Zoom Ring O.D.: -\\ Iris Ring O.D.: -\\ De-click Y/N: -\\ Additional Notes: \\ ==== Notes ==== ==== Media ====
