ZEISS will fix this at the factory, sometimes under warranty but that is TBD. We can fix it here too. Depending on the severity, if it is heavy a partial for the zoom section should be sufficient. If jammed, a full CLA with lapping will be necessary. \\ 2. Focus does not have full travel: one or more bearings from the focus linear bearing assembly may have popped out and is in the focus cam limiting travel. A full CLA is necessary to access and address.\\ 3. Due to the design of the CZs, replacing any of the zoom optics typically requires the lens being sent to ZEISS, as re-centering zoom optics properly can't be done with in-house equipment.\\ 4. **Regarding haze in rear optics:** If the haze is located __behind__ the aperture, a full CLA is not required; if the haze is in __front__ of the aperture, a full CLA is. \\ \\ Service Manual: [[staff:servicedb:ZeissCZ28-80mm|Disassembly/Re-assembly]]\\ Screws: [[staff:servicedb:zeissparts]]\\ \\ Full CLA: **20-24 hrs.**\\ Automatically add 3 replacement zoom followers on estimate as precaution due to difficulty in removing during disassembly. Remove from final invoice if any followers are not replaced. \\ CLA Zoom & Iris Only: **10-12 hrs.**\\ Zoom Jammed: **Full CLA +4 hrs.**\\ If grit gets in zoom follower "path" (raw aluminum) can snowball until zoom jams up. May need to hit zoom cam to remove, polish paths and lap cam. \\ CLA Focus Only: **10-12 hrs.**\\ Focus threads off towards the front. Remove front ring, lock ring, 1st 2 optical groups, unthread focus housing. Has 2 Teflon washers on housing. Quote if focus is uneven just in case. \\ Focus Jammed: **Full CLA**\\ Bearing from zoom linear guides may be blocking full travel of focus cam. Must fully dis-assemble to access focus and linear bearings. \\ Tighten and Secure Support Ring: **2 hrs.**\\ Remove support and focus scale (towards back). Screws to witness ring are under focus scale. \\ To remove and replace witness/support ring: see dis-assembly guide for instructions. \\ \\ Additional Service Notes - Optics:\\ - Front optics and focus group can be removed without disassembling lens.\\ - First 2 groups (front and center) of the zoom section can be removed without disassembling lens.\\ - Centering Field: Last zoom group controls field. Zoom until 4x socket head set screws are exposed in last zoom group. Adjust as needed.\\ - Centering Center: Rear element has 4x set screws. Loosen lock ring to adjust (painted and glued - use acetone sparingly or it will damage edge paint)\\ ==== Notes ==== ==== Media ====
