Pentax-M SMC 35mm f/2

Summary

The SMC Pentax-M 35mm f/2 is a fast, manual-focus wide-angle prime lens for Pentax K-mount 35mm and full-frame digital SLRs, produced from 1977 to 1984. It features a 7-element/7-group optical design, a 6-blade automatic diaphragm, and Pentax’s Super Multi-Coating (SMC) for improved contrast, color fidelity, and flare resistance. As the successor to the larger K-series version, it offers a more compact form while retaining excellent optical performance. With a bright f/2 maximum aperture, it excels in low-light conditions and provides shallow depth-of-field for subject isolation. The lens focuses down to 0.3m, delivers a 0.16× magnification, and uses a 49mm filter thread. It weighs 205g and measures 63 × 42mm, making it a solid yet portable option for street, travel, and general-purpose photography.
