focus threads are attached to the inside of focus scale. to access threads, optics and front housing must come apart. gets full clean and re-lube. no shortcuts
Loose front ring: 1 hr.
Removing focus gear:
if gear is tight one lens and needs to be heated up a lot, remove rear housing (witness ring) to help with removing the gear. This prevents the gear form getting stuck on the cutout window and potentially bending the “corners” of the window cutout which can cause scraping after the gear is reinstalled later.
