Pentax 67 SMC Takumar 300mm f/4 ED [IF]

Summary

The SMC Pentax-M★ 67 300mm f/4 ED [IF] is a premium manual-focus telephoto lens introduced in 1999 as the final evolution of Pentax’s 300mm offerings for the 6×7 medium format system. It replaced the earlier Takumar and SMC 300mm f/4 designs with a completely new optical formula, extra-low dispersion (ED) glass, and internal focusing (IF)—bringing modern performance to a classic system. Optically, it features a 9-element - 9-group design with Super Multi-Coating (SMC) and a 9-blade automatic diaphragm. The lens stops down to f/32, focuses as close as 2 meters, and delivers a 0.23× magnification ratio—a dramatic improvement over the 5-meter minimum focus of its predecessors. It uses an 82mm filter thread, weighs 1650g, and measures 92.5 × 209.5mm. It includes a removable PH-RBA82 hood with a polarizer access window, a dedicated tripod collar, and ships with the S120-230 padded case. There’s no “A” setting on the aperture ring, so it’s best used in manual or aperture-priority modes.
